Continuous professional development programmes for school principals in the 21st century: Lessons learned from educational leadership practices

Continuous professional development (CPD) is important for educational leaders to improve institutional performance and students’ learning outcomes. Yet, organizing effective programmes are often more complex than we might assume. The current study aims explore the challenges of managing CPD high school principals in Indonesia. Six three officers Ministry Education Cultures (MoEC) were interviewed. Qualitative data from interviews analyzed coded thematically using ATLAS.ti. Several themes main points emerged transcripts interviews. findings revealed some at schools. They include resistance change, technicality workload, almost zero follow-ups, unprofessional recruitment, unclear training syllabus. Among suggestions building personal approaches, developing skills, establishing a recruitment system, making continuous programmes, optimizing organizations. This can be used as an additional guide implement platform leaders.
